
New Apprentice Intake for 2021
In September 2020 Transport Repairs kicked off a new Apprentice recruitment campaign to select the very best applicants for 8 Apprenticeship positions starting in 2021. This recruitment process evaluated nearly 400 applications before carefully selecting our new recruits. It’s pleasing to see such a strong response and quality applications for these positions that included 6 Heavy Diesel, 1 Engineer and 1 Auto Electrician Apprenticeships.
We have now completed a comprehensive induction course for the new Apprentices to give then the very best start to their employment. The induction course included…
- completing all the employment formalities,
- meeting our Senior Managers for breakfast and an inspirational welcome to the business,
- getting kitted out in PPE,
- getting signed into the pay system,
- learning about the company structure and history,
- learning about our dealerships, business partners and product line,
- understanding HR and Health & Safety requirements,
- getting a forklift operators license,
- completing a first aid course,
- learning about our work order management system
- learning the imperial measurement system
- understanding the apprenticeship training system
- sign-up apprentice training agreements
This induction is just the beginning of what will be a very intensive training program for our Apprentices. Not only will the get 4 polytech block courses per year they will also receive Transport Repairs systems and technical training courses, on-line training programs as well as Cummins, Kenworth and DAF product training. All of this is to help create the very best tradesmen/women in New Zealand.
