Aaron & Gareth at our West Coast Road site

Transport Repairs are Privileged to host two Mechanics from the NZ Army who are completing their Diesel Mechanic Apprenticeships. We are pleased to provide them with some variety of Work Experience, Allowing completion of the last of their Units towards their Final Qualifications.

We have Private Gareth Wright, based at Burnham Base. Gareth has been in the Army for over 15 years and has a wife and kids who enjoy life in Rakaia. His first job was in a Truck Wrecking Yard in Taranaki. Gareth joined the Army in 2007 with basic training in Waiouru. Starting his Army Career as a Driver in Transport saw him driving Unimogs, Buses and MANs. This included a busy role delivering vital supplies around Christchurch during the 2010/11 earthquakes.

We also have Private Aaron Parker also based at Burnham Base. Aaron started his working life in the Supermarket Industry as a Store-man and quickly progressed through to a Grocery Manager. Aaron now lives close by the Base and is getting married in November. After five years in the Army Aaron is excited about his Career ahead and looking after some interesting Heavy Transport fleet.

We have enjoyed hosting these guys and hope they have learnt some useful skills from their time here.
