Meet the Team
Vincent is a very analytical man who loves digging into the numbers and coaching teams with facts just about as much as he loves Kenworth trucks. This is a reflection of his diverse background in and around this industry.
Vincent first qualified as a Mechanical Engineer and started his career in the road transport industry. Later he was attracted by the Finance industry when he started down the path to further studies, including qualifying as a Chartered Accountant (CA) then studied specialist topics such as risk management at Insead and Harvard Universities.
Vincent added to his existing governance roles with appointment as Chairman in February 2021 and says “ Our vision is to be more than your mechanics, we wish to be a trusted partner helping keep your trucks on the road, earning money. We can do this – we WILL do this – by having the top people, the best technology and the most convenient locations. We want to earn your trust every day”
Tony is a man who enjoys talking to anyone. Give him a moment in a crowd and he will be fully engage in conversations with all sorts of people. This is a very valuable skill as a General Manager to engage with the workforce and listen to the needs of our customers.
Tony passed his Diploma of Logistics, Materials and Supply Chain Management at Massey University and has spent most of his career managing logistics companies. Tony is now focused on leading Transport Repairs into a new phase of growth and development that will make us an attractive employer and a trusted service provider to our growing customer base.
Operations Manager – Marlborough / Canterbury
Mike is an innovative leader, always looking for opportunities to meet the customers’ needs and keep them trucking. He applies a lot of thought into the future and preparing Transport Repairs for new service offerings and increasing capacity.
Mikes’ a Diesel Mechanic and has spent most of his career under a truck. He grew his independent business, Heavy Transport Specialists Limited in Christchurch before seeing the advantages of combining with Otago and Southland partners to offer a larger business with wider coverage for customers. Mike has stepped down from the GM role so he can focus more time on the northern branch operations which is developing fast. Mike is on the Board of Directors.
Operations Manager – Otago / Southland
Brent is a very well-mannered bloke with an intense focus on getting it right the first time and continuously improving operations with the future in mind. He works closely with customers to understand their business needs and goes the extra mile to offer a suitable TRL solution.
Brent is a Diesel Mechanic who started out in our Gore branch. He spent several years in Western Australia mines that provided greater education before returning and running the original Cromwell branch. He now oversees Parts and Service operations for our southern branches.
Training / Fleet Manager
Nothing is a problem for Andy, he has a solution for everything and is happy to share his opinion with you. He gets involved in many parts of the business and is a big pusher of technology to make the job easier.
Andy is a Diesel Mechanic and has spent many years overseas an as Training Instructor, Dealer Development Consultant and Mining Performance Consultant. His TRL role started with a focus on branch operations but is now Manages Training and Fleet solutions. These a two very important areas as we need to develop the very best people for our business and offer our Customers innovative solution to manage their fleet.
Health & Safety / HR Manager
James is everywhere but he avoids getting there on a plane. Covering all our branches, he is very passionate about compliance and safety, which is exactly what is needed.
James has 10 years plus experience in the Motor industry before deciding to retrain in the human resource and health and safety fields. James is responsible for driving a health and safety culture within the business. He also manages HR and is the man to talk to if you are looking for a job with TRL.
Projects & Towing
Jason prefers the old-school approach to business and plays a big part in the transport industry and Gore regional community. He retains an impressive amount of customer knowledge and vehicle repair history and no computer is required.
Jason started his career as an Apprentice and has worked hard to build the original business of Transport Repairs 2003 based in Gore, which secured Southpac and Cummins Dealerships. From there, he expanded the business into Invercargill.
Jason manages the Southpac Dealer relationship, is involved in facilities, special projects and manages our Tow / Recovery operations. Jason is on the board of Directors.
Kane can be a very animated bloke who has an intense focus on cost and expense control. No expense gets past his scrutiny without a “please explain”.
Kane is based in Gore and has been involved in Parts and Operations over the years but is now focused on accounts and administration. He is our key user for Magix our business operation system.
Area Manager Canterbury
Kevin starts off as a quiet type of bloke until he gets stuck into a job. If you want the job done in the best possible time, then he’s your man.
Kevin is a Diesel Mechanic with a long career at TRL. He manages our out-lying branches of Bromley and Rangiora which is heavily focused on large customer fleets and now our new West Coast Road facility.
Sales Manager- Canterbury / Marlborough
John likes to see structure and processes followed which may have something to do with his military background. He is also very passionate about Apprentice recruitment, training and development and is our Apprentice Assessor.
John is a Diesel Mechanic and completed his trade in the Army. He has spent a far amount of his long TRL career managing the Bromley branch but is now focused on Sales and business growth across theCanterbury and Marlborough region. John is also our resident Brake Certifier.
Southland Parts Manager
Antony will never answer the phone the same old way if he recognises your number. Some of his responses can be very entertaining.
Ants has had a long career on the parts industry, particularly around trailer components and brakes. Ants is now on the road growing parts and service opportunities across Southland and Central Otago.
Warranty / Technical Support
Nathan is one of our most passionate people in the industry and he will take the time to fill you in on all the details with many stories as examples.
Nathan is a Diesel Mechanic and has been involved with the business since the very beginning. He is also one of our most educated with the completion of a comprehensive range of DAF, Kenworth and Cummins training. Nathan is the guy behind the scenes that communicates technical issues with Southpac most importantly processes Warranty claims.
